Qualifications

• Education: Associate degree from an AOTA accredited program.
• Experience: none
• Licensure/Certification: Licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia. AHA BLS-HCP required within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care based on therapist evaluation and plan of care, considering patient age and development.
• Coordinates patient care and clinical activities with patients, families, therapists, and health-care team.
• Documents in the medical record and completes forms per regulatory agencies and hospital policies.
• Supervises and collaborates with support staff, volunteers and students to ensure efficient clinical activity and quality care.
• Participates in in-services, performance improvement, program development/evaluation, new employee orientation, committee work, and staff meetings.
• Performs treatment within scope of certification and per physician instructions.
• Work is performed primarily in a hospital/clinical setting; may travel to other Carilion facilities; home care for Home Care Departments; occasional work outside clinic settings.
