Job summary

George Washington University Hospital seeks Occupational Therapists to join our 395-bed academic medical center in Washington, DC. You will evaluate and treat diverse adult patients with complex medical, neurological, and surgical conditions across acute and rehabilitation settings.

You will design evidence-based interventions, collaborate in interdisciplinary rounds, educate patients and families, and document in our EMR, with teaching and research opportunities within an academic health system.

Qualifications

• Current DC OT license or eligibility
• NBCOT certification as OT, Registered (OTR)
• BLS certification required
• Experience with EMR systems
• Clinical experience in acute care or inpatient rehab

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients’ functional abilities and develop individualized treatment plans
• Deliver evidence-based OT interventions for acute and complex conditions
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals on care plans
• Educate patients and families on adaptive techniques and home programs
• Document assessments, goals, and progress in the EMR accurately and timely
• Contribute to teaching of students and residents in an academic setting
• Coordinate safe discharge planning and recommendations for equipment or services
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and hospital policies
