Job summary

The George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC is seeking a qualified Occupational Therapist to join the Medical-Surgical Rehabilitation team on a per diem basis to support hospitalized patients.

Responsibilities include detailed ADL and cognitive assessments, developing individualized therapy plans, coordinating with the care team, and providing education to patients and families. The role requires DC license and BLS, with a two-weekend shift per month.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
• 1 year experience in an acute hospital setting required.
• DC License before start of employment.
• Current BLS certification for Healthcare Professionals.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed assessments of adult patients’ activities of daily living, neurological, musculoskeletal, sensory, cognitive, and functional needs in the acute hospital setting.
• Create and implement individualized therapy plans that support patients’ functional recovery and transition of care planning.
• Coordinate with nurses, physicians, rehab staff, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
• Offer guidance and education to patients and caregivers.
• Per diem role with a two-weekend shift per month requirement; additional weekdays may be available.
