Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Adult Congenital Heart Disease

Job Summary

Come join our dynamic Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) team in Cardiology! You will join a group that includes 4 faculty members who are national experts in the field. We are looking for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP), either an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, who is adaptable, professional, compassionate about patient care, and a team player. ACHD patients have complex physiology, and our faculty team will provide additional training, so you develop the needed expertise to care for this patient population. This is a hybrid position with both inpatient and outpatient experiences. You will round at Clements University Hospital on the ACHD service or be in the outpatient clinic. You also will participate in the ACHD combined surgical conference and weekly team conference to contribute to care decisions. No nights, weekends, or call. APPs with prior experience in heart failure or pediatric heart disease and Veterans are encouraged to apply.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited master’s degree or higher Physician Assistant program (ARC-PA) OR a master’s degree or higher in nursing with completion of an accredited Advanced Practice Education Program, with Texas Board of Nursing authorization.
• Certification by the NCCPA and licensure by the Texas Physician Assistant Board OR licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by Texas, with prescriptive authority.

Experience

One-year relevant clinical experience strongly preferred.

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive initial and ongoing physical examinations.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans, including ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests.
• Perform technical/procedural skills as appropriate.
• Provide management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients and families.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and research protocols.
• Collaborate on research projects and apply evidence-based practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Primarily in a clinical environment, with exposure to body fluids and infectious diseases.
