Position Description:

Penn Medicine – The Heart Group of Lancaster General Health is seeking a full-time APP to join our Heart Failure team. As part of a highly productive cardiology group consisting of 33 Physicians and 27 Nurse Practitioners, our heart failure team offers sub-specialty clinics in pulmonary hypertension, adult congenital heart disease, cardio-oncology, maternal cardiology, and VAD. We provide a full spectrum of mechanical circulatory support devices, thrive on innovation and state-of-the-art technology, and serve some of the longest surviving destination therapy patients in the country. Our program collaborates with three MCD cardio-thoracic surgeons offering all available BTT and DT platforms. We participate in over 20 clinical trials and support research endeavors, collaborating with Penn Medicine’s Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology team to improve quality of life and life expectancy for heart failure patients.

Our APPs enjoy a collaborative practice with a high degree of autonomy. They round on inpatients, participate in consults, coordinate discharges, and see patients in outpatient clinics, including same-day access clinics. Our specialty cardiology teams also assist with general cardiology patient care as needed.

Hours: This position is full-time, with usual hours from 0730-1730. It involves 10-hour shifts, totaling 8 shifts in a 2-week period, with occasional weekends and holidays off.

Minimum Requirements:

Nurse Practitioner:

  • Valid Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner license and Certificate of Prescriptive Authority in Pennsylvania
  • Valid Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • Certification by ANCC or other qualifying agency in adult/gerontology acute care nurse practitioner
  • Minimum one-year experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred

Physician Assistant:

  • Current licensure as a Physician Assistant by PA Board of Medicine
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant training program
  • Experience in cardiology highly preferred; open to experienced PA-C with recent hospitalist or ED background
