Job summary

Houston Methodist seeks a Nurse Practitioner Acute Care (NP-AC) to deliver diagnosis, treatment, and consultation as part of a care team in both inpatient and outpatient settings. This role operates under the Texas Nurse Practice Act and supports compassionate communication with patients and colleagues.

The NP-AC will collaborate with physicians, order tests, prescribe medications as appropriate, and educate patients about preventive care and prescribed treatments.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program with NP certification.
• Two years of RN/NP clinical experience.
• Texas RN license and NP Acute Care license; permanent Texas license within 60 days if establishing residency.
• DEA license within 6 months and prescriptive authority.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates leadership as a clinical resource and mentor for staff.
• Coordinate patient care with interprofessional team and physicians.
• Ensure patient safety, quality of care, and adherence to policies.
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans and preventive care.
