Job Summary and Qualifications

As a remote Inpatient Coding Specialist, you will review hospital inpatient records to assign, validate, and edit ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes. You will perform coding and validation across multiple entities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assigning, sequencing, validating, and editing codes and DRGs for inpatient records across facilities using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS, including diagnosis, procedures, POA, discharge details, and IRF-PAI.
  • Maintaining accuracy and productivity standards.
  • Utilizing complete medical documentation for coding and validation.
  • Managing physician queries per policy.
  • Potentially performing CARS III duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in HIM/HIT preferred.
  • At least 2 years of inpatient acute care hospital coding experience.
  • RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
