Job summary

Dungarvin is seeking a Mental Health Specialist II to work in Acute Behavioral Services in Rochester, MN. You will provide direct support to individuals with intensive behavioral and mental-health needs, following behavior support plans and crisis-prevention strategies.

The role includes documentation, safety responsibilities, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The position offers a fixed starting rate of $24/hour, with a retention bonus and comprehensive benefits including

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3 years minimum experience with individuals with chronic and severe mental illness or a degree in a mental-health–related field.
• Must be at least 18 years old; some programs require 21+.
• Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use electronic documentation systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to individuals with intensive behavioral and mental‑health needs using person‑centered approaches focused on safety, skill-building, and positive engagement.
• Support individuals per behavior support plans, treatment plans, crisis-prevention strategies, de-escalation, and trained restraint procedures.
• Maintain a clean, safe living environment; assist with daily living skills, tasks, transportation, and community engagement.
• Document services, observations, health concerns, and activities using electronic systems.
• Monitor changes, identify escalation indicators, and communicate with supervisors during crisis.
• Support family contacts, assist with appointments, medication tasks, and follow medical plans.
• Participate in team meetings, train new staff, and model professional behavior.
• Maintain home safety and follow emergency procedures.
