Job summary

Dungarvin is hiring a Mental Health Specialist II for Acute Behavioral Services. You will provide direct support to individuals with intensive behavioral and mental health needs, following behavior support plans and crisis-prevention strategies, in a structured home setting.

You will document observations, assist with daily living tasks, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safety and progress for residents with complex needs.

Qualifications

• 3 years minimum experience working with individuals with chronic and severe mental illness or a degree in a mental health–related field
• Must be at least 18 years of age; some programs require employees to be 21 years of age or older
• Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance
• Basic computer skills and ability to use electronic documentation systems

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to individuals with intensive behavioral and mental‑health needs using person‑centered approaches focused on safety, skill‑building, and positive engagement
• Support individuals according to behavior support plans and crisis-prevention strategies
• Maintain a clean, safe living environment and assist with daily living skills, transportation, and community engagement
• Accurately document services and health concerns using electronic systems
• Monitor behavioral changes and communicate with supervisors during crisis or safety situations
• Support family and appointments, assist with medications as allowed, and follow medical plans
• Participate in team meetings and training for new staff
• Maintain home safety and follow emergency procedures
