Job summary

Jobtailor in Richmond, VA seeks a senior model risk professional to lead independent validations of actuarial, finance, investment, and data science models.

You will ensure models are fit for purpose, document findings for technical and non‑technical audiences, and challenge rationale, reliability, and limitations.

Collaborate with model owners, developers, and leadership to strengthen governance, controls, and the use of AI tools to improve processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline.
• FSA or ASA; FSA preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in Life/Annuity/LTC insurance.
• 3+ years developing actuarial models in AXIS or MG-ALFA/Integrate.
• Proficiency in SQL or Python/R/SAS.
• Familiarity with actuarial valuation, projections, experience study or pricing models.
• Interest in AI tools to improve work processes.
• Ability to document models, processes, and validation findings for technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead independent model validations for actuarial, finance, investment, and data science models
• Validate that models are fit for purpose and functioning as designed
• Provide effective challenge on model rationale, reliability, stability, and limitations
• Identify model issues, document findings for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Collaborate with model owners, developers, and business leaders to deliver model risk management
• Assess enterprise exposure to model risk based on processes and risk strategies
• Contribute insights on modeling, controls, and governance
• Improve efficiency of model risk management processes
• Share validation findings with the Model Risk Team
