Job summary

Venerable is seeking an Associate Actuary to help determine mortality and policyholder behavior assumptions for variable annuities. You will analyze experience data and develop projections used in financial reporting and risk management.

Responsibilities include presenting recommendations to senior leadership, driving process improvements in experience studies, collaborating with IT and vendors, and supporting audits and regulatory inquiries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Finance or related field.
• ASA, Career ASA or newly credentialed FSA with 5–6+ years' actuarial experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify patterns, trends, anomalies, and key drivers within large datasets.
• Proficiency in Excel, SQL Server, PowerBI, R or Python; strong communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret policyholder experience data to identify trends, drivers, and key patterns.
• Develop and present actuarial assumptions for mortality and policyholder behavior used in financial reporting and risk management.
• Collaborate with IT and external vendors on transformation projects and process improvements in experience studies.
• Support internal and external audits, including walkthroughs and regulator inquiries.
• Lead analyses and deliverables for experience studies and present recommendations to senior leadership.
