Job summary

Athene is seeking a Business Systems Analyst II (Actuarial IT) in West Des Moines to partner with Actuarial, Finance and Technology teams, translating complex business needs into scalable tech solutions. You will perform data analysis with SQL, support reporting, and drive modernization of actuarial data platforms using AWS, while fostering Agile practices and mentoring others.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant experience as a Business Systems Analyst
• Strong knowledge of annuity products and actuarial/financial operations
• SQL and data analysis experience with cloud-based data modernization, preferably AWS
• Experience in Agile environments using JIRA, Confluence, and AI-enabled tools
• Excellent analytical, communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and mentor others
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Finance, Actuarial Science, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent)

Responsibilities

• Partner with Actuarial, Finance, Reinsurance, and Technology stakeholders to analyze business processes and translate requirements into scalable technology solutions
• Perform hands-on data analysis using SQL to validate business rules, reconcile actuarial/financial data, and support downstream reporting
• Drive modernization initiatives by collaborating with engineering teams to improve actuarial data platforms and AWS-based data solutions
• Support Agile delivery with user stories, acceptance criteria, documentation, testing, and production support
• Mentor and support Business Systems Analysts to elevate quality and consistency
• Leverage AI-enabled tools to enhance analysis, documentation, data interpretation, and productivity
