Job summary

Transamerica seeks motivated actuarial interns (Freshman–Junior) in a hybrid role across Baltimore, Cedar Rapids, or Philadelphia. You’ll gain hands-on experience in data analysis, product valuation, and financial reporting while supporting pricing and reserving tasks.

Ideal candidates have strong math skills, good communication, and some programming knowledge (VB, Python, R). Internship includes an allowance to offset relocation and living costs.

Qualifications

• Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors enrolled as full-time students, ideally majoring in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Statistics.
• Most interns will have already passed at least one SOA exam by the time of their internship.
• Desired skills include strong mathematical and analytical abilities, communication, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Compile data for experience analyses and prepare reports.
• Assess current and new product designs for feasibility.
• Translate product specifications into valuation assumptions.
• Assist with pricing of new and existing products.
• Support statutory, GAAP, and tax valuation work and other reserving needs.
• Help with ALM risk profiles and investment income budgeting.
• Build and run computer asset/liability models using actuarial software.
• Assist in converting systems to new platforms.
• Automate processes with programs or macros.
