Job summary

The Standard offers a summer internship program for aspiring actuaries, with a remote-first setup nationwide. Interns join actuarial teams across Employee Benefits, Retirement Plans, and more, gaining exposure to pricing, valuation, modeling, and reporting while collaborating with IT, Underwriting, HR, Claims, and Marketing.

Applicants must be full-time students, pursuing actuarial science or related fields; sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be enrolled as full-time students for the duration of the internship.
• Preferred majors in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
• Strong analytical skills as demonstrated by coursework or exams.
• Knowledge of MS Excel, MS Access, and programming languages such as SQL and Python.

Responsibilities

• Interns will be assigned to actuarial teams—Employee Benefits, Retirement Plans, Individual Disability Insurance, Individual Annuities, Actuarial Transformation or Corporate Actuarial and Risk Management.
• Assignment may include work in product development, pricing, valuation, experience studies, and reporting.
• Interns will participate in systems testing, process automation and modeling.
• Interns present their projects and learnings to actuarial leaders at internship end.
