• Evaluate new specialty Programs and external partnerships from actuarial and commercial perspectives.
• Develop and improve pricing methodologies, segmentation and actuarial approaches.
• Build pricing and portfolio monitoring tools using Python, SQL and VBA.
• Conduct actuarial studies to improve pricing parameters and methodologies.
• Partner with Underwriting, Program Managers and analytics teams.

**Director, Actuarial | Pricing**Locations: Chicago, IL | New York, NY | Jersey City, NJ | St. Paul, MN | Hartford, CT Working pattern: Hybrid – 3 days per week in the office Salary: $130,000-$180,000 base + bonus Experience: 6+ years Credentials: ACAS or FCASA leading global specialty insurance organisation is looking to appoint two Directors, Actuarial to join its growing Programs Pricing function.This is an opportunity for an experienced P&C actuary to take ownership of a portfolio of specialty insurance programs and play a genuine role in shaping business strategy. You’ll work closely with underwriting, program management, analytics and senior leadership, providing the actuarial insight that helps determine where the business should grow, maintain, reprice or pull back.### The RoleAs a Director you’ll act as the lead actuary and key business partner for approximately 5-6 specialty Programs.**Your responsibilities will include:*** Leading portfolio profitability and pricing analysis across your assigned Programs.* Monitoring rate, pricing adequacy, underwriting mix and segmentation to understand portfolio performance.* Advising the business on opportunities to grow, maintain, reprice or exit areas of the portfolio.* Evaluating new specialty Programs and external partnerships from an actuarial and commercial perspective.* Developing and improving pricing methodologies, segmentation and actuarial approaches.* Building pricing and portfolio monitoring tools using technologies such as Python, SQL and VBA.* Conducting actuarial studies to improve pricing parameters and methodologies.* Partnering closely with Underwriting, Program Managers and predictive modelling/analytics teams.* Presenting complex actuarial analysis to senior stakeholders and turning it into clear, actionable commercial recommendations.### About YouWe’re looking for an experienced P&C actuary who combines strong technical capability with commercial judgement and excellent communication skills.You’ll ideally bring:* **6+ years of relevant P&C actuarial experience.*** **ACAS or FCAS** qualification.* Strong experience in actuarial pricing, portfolio analysis and profitability.* Exposure to **commercial or specialty P&C insurance**, ideally including Programs.* Strong analytical and technical skills, particularly **Python, SQL and/or VBA**.* Experience with pricing adequacy, segmentation, rate monitoring and pricing methodology.* The ability to work closely with Underwriting and senior business stakeholders.* Strong communication skills and the confidence to provide an actuarial point of view and influence decisions.We’re particularly interested in actuaries who want to move beyond purely technical pricing work and have a genuine interest in the commercial side of insurance.### Why Consider This Opportunity?You’ll be joining a well-established global specialty insurer with a strong actuarial culture and exposure to some genuinely interesting and complex insurance risks.The actuarial function has a meaningful voice within the business, with senior actuarial professionals involved in commercial and underwriting decisions.
