Job summary

PEMCO, a mutual insurer based in Seattle, is seeking a Data Scientist - Actuarial to support product development, pricing, reserving and system changes. You will build predictive models and collaborate with product teams to drive financial insights and improvements.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in actuarial modeling and strong Python/R/SAS/SQL skills, with a data‑driven mindset and ability to translate complex data into actionable business decisions.

Qualifications

• S. degree or equivalent work experience in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or related field.
• 3+ years of actuarial and predictive modeling experience.
• Proficient with Python, R, SAS and/or SQL.
• Analytical, data-driven with clear metrics to drive strategy.

Responsibilities

• Provide analytical support for actuarial and product development.
• Conduct predictive modeling and multivariate analysis.
• Assist with rates, rating plans, pricing strategies and financial analysis.
• Collaborate with Product Team to deliver business solutions.
• Document system workflows and processes.
• Demonstrate PEMCO values and ethics.
