Actuarial Consultant – Professional Lines Pricing - REMOTE

Join Nationwide as an Actuarial Consultant – Professional Lines Pricing - REMOTE and be part of our dynamic team. Located within the Finance department, this role offers opportunities to grow across disciplines such as Advanced Analytics, Investments, Actuarial, and Risk Management. This position primarily supports the Commercial Directors & Officers (D&O) insurance portfolio within the broader Professional Lines segment. You will work within a technically advanced actuarial team that emphasizes innovation, data integration, and collaboration with underwriting and business leadership. Your key responsibilities will include pricing strategy, model enhancement, and performance improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead pricing and strategic support for the D&O book of business.
  • Maintain and enhance the Pricing predictive model, integrating public financial data for insights.
  • Collaborate with underwriting and business partners to improve D&O market performance.
  • Contribute to actuarial innovation, including external data sources and analytics.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Actuarial experience in professional lines, especially D&O.
  • Proficiency in Python/R, SQL, and familiarity with tools like GitHub, Databricks, PowerBI.
  • Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team.

  • This role is fully remote.
Job Summary

Our Property and Casualty (P&C) Actuarial team uses state-of-the-art tools and encourages innovation. As an Actuarial Consultant, you will perform complex analyses, provide expertise on actuarial models, and possibly participate in the P&C Actuarial Rotation Program, which offers diverse learning opportunities across different actuarial functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply actuarial methodologies to source and manipulate complex data.
  • Conduct analyses, develop recommendations, and document assumptions and methods.
  • Present findings to technical and non-technical audiences, representing the company with regulators and auditors.
  • Lead peer reviews, manage relationships, and train new associates.
  • Utilize data mining and predictive modeling techniques to explore data and build models.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or related field.
  • Actuarial credentials (e.g., ACAS, working towards FCAS), with 5+ years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge of actuarial methods, software, and databases; proficient in MS Office and programming languages.
Additional Details

This position is exempt from overtime, with a normal office environment, and may be filled in any of the lower 48 U.S. states. Applications are accepted until 06/16/2025, but early submissions are encouraged.
