Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of actuarial experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, quantitative discipline, actuarial science, or related field.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Excel; SQL experience preferred.
  • Life insurance product knowledge and valuation/financial reporting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with periodic actuarial valuation and production processes, including data preparation, model support, results review, and preparation of recurring reporting materials.
  • Support the team in producing accurate, timely, and well-documented deliverables under established procedures and controls.
  • Perform data analysis and quality checks to support valuation, reporting, assumption review, and ad‑hoc business needs.
  • Maintain clear supporting documentation for production processes, assumptions, data checks, and work products.
  • Assist with enhancements to recurring tools, templates, and processes to improve efficiency, consistency, and controls.
  • Support team members with production tasks, management requests, audit support, and other actuarial projects as needed.

Actuarial Associate — Living Benefits (LB) Valuation

Location: New York, NY

About Corporate Actuarial – Valuation

Corporate Actuarial produces reserving and financial metrics across IFRS 17, US Stat/Health, and Solvency II. The team delivers accurate, forward‑looking financial information that supports senior management, Finance, ERM, Pricing, auditors, and regulators. Results from valuation drive thought leadership and informed decision‑making across the organization.

The Role

This role will be a member of the Living Benefits (LB) Valuation team, which handles Individual Disability (IDI) and/or Long Term Care (LTC) reporting.

The Actuarial Associate’s primary responsibility is to support actuarial production activities for the Corporate Actuarial team, including valuation support, data analysis, process documentation, and recurring reporting deliverables.

Responsibilities
Production Support and Valuation:
  • Assist with periodic actuarial valuation and production processes, including data preparation, model support, results review, and preparation of recurring reporting materials.
  • Support the team in producing accurate, timely, and well-documented deliverables under established procedures and controls.
Data, Analysis, and Documentation:
  • Perform data analysis and quality checks to support valuation, reporting, assumption review, and ad‑hoc business needs.
  • Maintain clear supporting documentation for production processes, assumptions, data checks, and work products.
  • Assist with enhancements to recurring tools, templates, and processes to improve efficiency, consistency, and controls.
Projects and Team Support:
  • Support team members with production tasks, management requests, audit support, and other actuarial projects as needed.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment by asking thoughtful questions, learning production workflows, and building actuarial and technical skills over time.
Your profile
  • near ASA and commitment to earning ASA with desire to continue exam progression towards FSA.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, quantitative discipline, actuarial science, or related field
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills, with attention to detail and willingness to learn production processes.
  • Ability to communicate results clearly, manage multiple tasks, and work effectively with team members and business partners.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel; programming or data analysis experience (i.e. SQL) is preferred.
  • Life insurance product knowledge including product design, features, and risks preferred
  • Valuation or Financial Reporting experience preferred
