A financial consulting firm seeks an Associate, Valuation/Sr. Analyst in Boston to support valuation and financial reporting of life insurance products. The ideal candidate will have an FSA designation and 5+ years of actuary experience, working collaboratively to deliver timely reporting and perform detailed analyses. This hybrid position offers a competitive salary range of $95-135,000 plus bonus and equity, depending on experience.

Qualifications

  • FSA designation, progress toward FSA, or ASA with relevant experience.
  • Approximately 5 or more years of actuarial experience, ideally within life insurance or annuities.
  • Understanding of statutory and GAAP valuation principles is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review statutory, tax, and GAAP reserves.
  • Analyze changes in reserves and assess sensitivities.
  • Investigate key drivers of earnings and financial results.
  • Strengthen internal control processes for accurate reporting.
  • Perform annual assumption reviews and evaluate impacts.
  • Coordinate with modeling teams for enhancements.
  • Partner with data teams to improve valuation systems.
  • Assist with audits and regulatory reporting.

Associate, Valuation/Sr. Analyst

Hybrid, 3/2 Office Schedule

Boston, MA

$95-135,000 plus bonus & equity; flexible depending on experience

This role is responsible for supporting the valuation and financial reporting of life insurance products. The individual will work closely with a broader actuarial team to deliver timely reporting, perform detailed analysis, and review business performance. Level will be determined based on experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review statutory, tax, and GAAP reserves, along with related actuarial metrics.
  • Analyze changes in reserves and assess sensitivities across different reporting frameworks.
  • Investigate and explain key drivers of earnings and quarterly financial results.
  • Strengthen and maintain internal control processes to support accurate and compliant reporting.
  • Perform annual assumption reviews and evaluate the financial impact of potential updates.
  • Coordinate with modeling teams to implement model enhancements and updates.
  • Partner with data and technology teams to improve valuation systems and processes.
  • Assist with audits and provide support for regulatory reporting and inquiries.

The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
