Job summary

QBE invites applications for an Actuarial Analyst I based in Madison, WI. This hybrid role supports the Property Pricing Team within the Actuarial Department, performing basic actuarial calculations, data extraction and review, and assisting with business planning under supervision.

You will help forecast provisions, develop pricing tools, monitor financial programs, and contribute to strategic planning. Some related experience and a tertiary degree are preferred for this entry-level actuarial

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
  • Experience in actuarial analyses and data review preferred.
  • Strong numerical and analytical abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate data is used for analyses by adopting appropriate systems and procedures.
  • Comply with documentation of key processes, policies, legal requirements, and actuarial standards.
  • Support forecasting of technical provisions, reserve margins, and uncertainties for business analysis.
  • Assist in developing pricing tools, rates, and methods to ensure robustness.
  • Support business planning processes by collecting and analysing information effectively.
  • Analyse reinsurance options to optimise purchases for the business.
  • Assist in determining capital needs and developing reports.
  • Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance customer focus.
  • Provide underwriting statistics and performance monitoring for management information.
  • Support modelling and analysing risk aggregation to manage exposures.

Actuarial Analyst I

  • The salary range for this role is: $64,000.00-$96,000.00
The Opportunity

The purpose of this role is to support the Property Pricing Team within the Actuarial Department by performing basic actuarial calculations, extracting and reviewing data, and assisting with business planning and analysis under close supervision. The role aims to contribute to the monitoring of financial programs, providing quantitative information to aid in making sound business decisions and ensuring prudent strategic planning.

  • Experience in the Insurance Industry.
  • Experience working within the Actuarial function in a multinational financial services business.

Compensation Package

The salary range for this role is provided above. This is the national range for location(s) listed. The salary offer will be decided based on the role’s complexity, its location, and the candidate’s professional background, including their education and experience. Beyond the base salary, regular full-time and part-time employees will also be eligible for QBE’s annual discretionary bonus plan based on business and individual performance. We encourage all candidates to apply, even if their salary expectations fall outside of this range, as we are committed to finding the right fit for our team.
