Job summary

Western & Southern Financial Group is seeking an Actuarial Analyst to apply actuarial principles to product and financial management. This role involves gathering and formatting data, performing analyses, and supporting pricing, valuation and asset-liability forecasting under supervision.

You will develop documentation, work with internal partners, and pursue actuarial exams while building professional goals and collaboration in a team. Office-based with standard hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in mathematics or related field is required.
• Proven experience exercising good judgment, problem-solving skills and time management.
• Demonstrated experience setting professional goals and achieving those goals.
• Proven analytical skills with ability to identify and quantify problems and draw valid conclusions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for internal and external partners.
• Ability to work independently under limited supervision.
• Cite examples of working effectively as part of a team.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Commitment to learn actuarial software packages (ARCVal, ARCBase) and pricing/projections (MG-ALFA).
• Commitment to learning company systems to extract data.
• Pursuit of FSA designation and passing exams.
• Adherence to actuarial exam and administrative rules.

Responsibilities

• Gathers, organizes and formats data from various sources; reviews for reasonableness and provides data for internal/external use.
• Applies mathematical, statistical and technical skills to analyze data and reports.
• Ensures accuracy of calculations and statistical analysis under time constraints.
• Answers mathematical, financial and product-related questions from other departments.
• Learns and applies Company and departmental standards; documents work.
• Obtains and organizes Company experience for product development, financial reporting and forecasting.
• Assists in developing complex technical programs for valuation, reserves and profitability assessment.
• Implements actuarial measures with guidance and maintains documentation.
• Executes pricing, valuation and asset-liability runs with correct models and consistent inputs; reviews results.
• Documents projects per guidelines and adheres to policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
