Job summary

Orion180 is seeking an Actuarial Analyst to contribute to personal and commercial lines product expansion, rate development, and reserve estimation. You will interact with executives and partners to shape the company’s future, driving pricing and reserving improvements with innovative approaches.

The role requires CAS exam progress, advanced data skills (SQL/R/Python), and strong communication. On-site in Draper, UT with competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
• Successful completion of at least one Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) exam.
• Advanced data and statistical programming skills including SQL, R and Python, with strong proficiency in Excel.

Responsibilities

• Support the actuarial function to achieve business objectives and performance goals.
• Partner with portfolio managers to evaluate and manage financial results across Orion180’s product portfolio.
• Assist in the development of pricing models, reserving methodologies, and analytical reports that drive data-driven decisions.
• Participate in the design and development of next-generation pricing tools and internal models, including AI-based improvements to actuarial processes.
• Analyze external and internal claims and exposure data to enhance proprietary pricing factors and models.
• Assist with building and validating predictive models (e.g., GLMs, GBMs, Random Forests, Neural Networks) for frequency/severity modeling, price optimization, and customer retention.
• Support regulatory filings, reinsurance presentations, and audit documentation as needed.
• Perform quarterly and ad-hoc reserve studies, including monthly tracking of reserve and claim development.
• Collaborate with the Claims department to understand reserving and settlement practices and their impact on loss reserves and IBNR.
• Communicate complex actuarial analyses and findings to non-technical stakeholders, including executives and other internal teams.
