Job summary

Blue Ridge Health is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to join the Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) in Sylva, North Carolina. This full-time role focuses on recovery-oriented support services, self-advocacy, and connecting clients with community resources.

You will model recovery values, engage clients at their stage of change, and use harm-reduction strategies to promote safe decision-making and wellness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Certification from a Peer Support Training Program.
• Valid Driver's license and acceptable driving history.

Responsibilities

• Provide an array of support services to inspire hope and promote self-advocacy.
• Model recovery values and mentor self-care to encourage wellness.
• Engage with clients in a respectful, stage-appropriate manner.
• Demonstrate skill-building techniques to help clients progress toward goals.
• Teach harm reduction and discuss safety and risk to support healthy decisions.
• Assist in crisis moments following trauma-informed practices.
• Connect clients with community resources to support integration.
