Job summary

Blue Ridge Health is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to join our Behavioral Health Team serving Swain and Macon counties in Bryson City, NC. This full-time role focuses on recovery support, education, and empowerment to help individuals engage in their wellness journey.

You will provide outreach, mentor recovery values, and assist individuals in building skills, accessing community resources, and creating informal support networks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Certification from a Peer Support Training Program.
• Valid Driver's license and acceptable driving history.

Responsibilities

• Utilize outreach and engagement skills with individuals at their stage of change.
• Model recovery values and mentor self-care to encourage wellness and resilience.
• Provide supportive statements to inspire hope and self-determination.
• Teach skill-building to help individuals progress toward goals.
• Discuss harm reduction and safety to foster healthy decision making.
• Support crisis planning and link individuals to community resources.
• Facilitate learning about rights and assist in exercising them.
• Help create informal support networks for recovery.
