Job summary

OPCO Skilled Management is seeking an Activity/Recreation Assistant to support the development and delivery of recreational programs for patients. You will help organize group and individual activities, arts/crafts, and community outings while maintaining patient precautions and promoting participation.

This role involves collaborating with the Director to assess needs, implement programs, and handle miscellaneous tasks as required, ensuring engaging, safe activities for a diverse patient

Qualifications

• High School Diploma with course work in recreation is desirable; Completion of a state approved activity-training course is preferred but not required.
• Previous experience in leading recreational activities, arts/crafts, intellectual/educational activities, community outings, etc., desired.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the development and delivery of activity/recreational programs to promote the patients’ opportunities for engaging in normal life enhancement pursuits and to increase and/or maintain functioning levels.
• Maintains precautions/limitations list on each patient.
• Encourages patient participation in group and individual activities including arts/crafts, community outings, religious activities, intellectual/educational activities, community/center service activities, recreational activities, etc.
• Performs any miscellaneous work assignments as may be required.

Objective

The Activity/Recreation Assistant supports the efforts of the Activity/Recreation Director in the assessing, selecting, organizing, and implementing of activity/recreational services to address the individualized needs and interests of the overall patient population within the center.

Activity/Recreation Assistant Responsibilities
