Overview

Elderwood Village at Fairport is seeking a part-time Activity Leader to work with our residents. Previous recreation experience in an elder care setting including dementia care is strongly preferred.

Schedule: Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday from 9-5) and two days during the week, or 2-3 afternoons from 1-5pm.

Our activities leaders conduct enjoyable recreation programs that keep residents energized, engaged, and mentally stimulated.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Activities in planning and executing the activity program.
• Approach residents to plan individual recreational and social activities; report on responses and cooperation.
• Prepare resident information for care planning and documentation; write progress notes as needed.
• Develop and maintain contact with community resources for the activities program.
• Maintain departmental inventory of equipment and supplies.
• Maintain attendance records and prepare reports.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years old, HS diploma or equivalent.
• Valid New York Driver's License with a clean record.
• Ability to build good relationships with staff, volunteers, families, and visitors.
• Ability to inspire, motivate, and adapt activities to residents' needs.
• Understanding of residents' rights and needs.
• Physical stamina for constant activity.
• Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking, understanding).
