Windsor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Weslaco is seeking an Activity Director to plan, coordinate, and direct the resident activity program. You will ensure comprehensive documentation and contribute to the resident care plan by developing the activities component based on assessments.

The role requires organizing individual and group activities for residents with varying abilities, completing MDS Section E on time, and preparing monthly calendars.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Bachelor's degree with 1 year of full-time experience working with elderly people or people with disabilities in a human service or medically related program is required.
  • 60 semester hours from an accredited college or university, and two years of full-time experience working with elderly people or people with disabilities in a human service or medically related program.
  • Completed an activities director's course, and two years of full-time experience working with elderly people or people with disabilities in a human service or medically related program.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and direct the resident activity program and maintain required documentation.
  • Organize individual and group activities for residents with varying functioning levels.
  • Complete MDS Section E timely and accurately and develop the activities component of the Comprehensive Care Plan.
  • Prepare monthly activity calendar and post in accessible, visible areas and provide copies to residents.
  • Arrange at least two off-site activities per month and participate in community events.

Primary ResponsibilitiesThe Activity Director will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing the resident’s activity program and the maintenance of necessary documentation.Essential FunctionsOrganize both individual and group activities based on the needs of the residentsEnsure that multiple activities are occurring for both high and low functioning residentsComplete section E of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) timely and accuratelyDevelop the activities component of the Comprehensive Care Plan from the completed activity assessmentComplete an annual assessment for each resident on the activities component of the Resident AssessmentProvide activities for residents that are bedfast and/or unable to participate in group activities (one to one) and documents in the appropriate recordPrepare monthly calendar and post in an area that is accessible and highly visible and frequented by residents and visitors. Calendar should also be provided to each resident and posted in roomPrepare the facility newsletterCoordinate a minimum of two off-site activities per monthParticipate in community events related to the interest of the facility and arrange for use of community facilitiesCollaborates with Corporate Events/Activities Coordinator in organizing various employee and non-employee events for the facility.Recruits, orients, and supervises the volunteer program of the facilityParticipate in facility QA meetings and complete Monthly QA reportsEducational/Training RequirementsA.
