Job summary

Amberwood Estates Nursing and Rehabilitation is seeking an enthusiastic Activity Director to lead and expand our long-term care activity program. You will assess resident interests, plan daily activities, and foster social engagement to support well-being and quality of life.

You will coordinate with staff, volunteers, and community groups, organize events, and maintain welcoming spaces to motivate residents to stay active and connected. A strong communicator is essential to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• Experience with activities, crafts, or recreation programs.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Activity Director certification is required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct resident assessments to identify interests, needs, and appropriate recreational activities
• Plan and lead daily activities that promote socialization, communication, and overall mental health
• Encourage and support resident participation in group and individual programs
• Coordinate activities with volunteers, staff, and community groups while aligning with facility routines
• Organize events, entertainment, games, crafts, and seasonal celebrations
• Maintain a warm, welcoming environment through decorations, bulletin boards, and personalized resident spaces
• Motivate residents to stay active, engaged, and connected within the community
• Oversee the activity program and provide additional support to residents needing special attention
• Ensure activity areas are clean, organized, and ready before and after each session
