Job summary

SNF Hires is seeking an experienced Activity Director to lead resident engagement and recreational programming in a skilled nursing and long-term care community in Kentucky.

The ideal candidate will plan and implement comprehensive activities, coordinate events, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve quality of life and person-centered care for residents.

Qualifications

• Experience as an Activity Director or similar in a skilled nursing facility (SNF) or long-term care setting.
• Experience managing activity programming for geriatric and rehabilitation populations.
• Strong organizational, communication, event planning, and leadership skills.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to resident activities.
• Credentials such as MEPAP or Activity Director certification are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, coordinate, and implement a comprehensive activities program for residents in a skilled nursing facility and long-term care setting.
• Create engaging recreational, therapeutic, educational, social, cultural, and community-based activities.
• Promote resident participation, independence, dignity, and emotional well-being.
• Coordinate special events, holiday celebrations, outings, entertainment, and volunteer programs.
• Complete activity assessments and develop individualized activity plans based on resident interests and needs.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations regarding resident activities.
• Collaborate with nursing, rehabilitation, social services, dietary, and interdisciplinary teams to enhance resident quality of life.
• Supervise activity staff and volunteers while providing leadership and mentorship.
• Maintain accurate documentation and activity records.
• Develop innovative programming that encourages socialization, engagement, cognitive stimulation, and physical activity.

• Experience managing activity programming for geriatric and rehabilitation populations.

• Strong organizational, communication, event planning, and leadership skills.

• Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to resident activities.

• MEPAP certification, Activity Director certification, or other recognized credentials are preferred but not required. Qualified candidates with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
