Activity Director (Healthcare)
Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct resident-centered activities for the facility. Stay informed of current federal and state regulations, as well as professional standards. Maintain effective communication with employees at all levels, residents, their families, support personnel, government agencies, and the public to meet the needs and interests of residents, the community, and the facility.
Participate in community planning related to the facility's interests and the needs of residents and their families. Assist in reviewing and developing correction plans for activity deficiencies noted during surveys and provide reports to the Administrator. Attend regular meetings including staff, department, quality improvement, safety, marketing, and resident councils.
Support the Quality Assurance and Assessment Committee in developing and implementing action plans for quality deficiencies. Participate in discharge planning, development of activity care plans, and resident assessments. Assist with arranging transportation for residents for outings, appointments, or discharges.
Develop monthly activity schedules, including outings, group activities, and in-room activities for bed-bound or isolated residents. Encourage residents to engage in self-initiated activities like hobbies and crafts, and provide materials such as Braille or audio books as needed. Ensure all charted activity notes are detailed and reflect the services provided and residents' responses.
Supervisory responsibilities include assisting with the overall management of the activity staff.
Qualifications:
Physical Demands: Standing, walking, reaching, pushing/pulling frequently; sitting occasionally; talking and hearing frequently; tasting and smelling frequently; lifting up to 50 pounds frequently; occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
Work Environment: Typically low to moderate noise level; accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
