Job summary

Black Bear Lodge, located in the serene forest foothills of northern Georgia, seeks an Activities Coordinator to lead the adventure program and coordinate resident activities within the residential treatment setting.

You will supervise activities, develop plans to enhance benefits, collaborate with RA staff, and ensure documentation and confidentiality. Ideal candidates have a recreation-related degree, WFR, and experience with co-occurring populations, with a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy or related field preferred.
  • Certified Recreation Therapist preferred.
  • 2 years of adventure program facilitation, residential programming, and work with co-occurring population preferred.
  • Wilderness First Responder Certification preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a trustworthy driving history.

Responsibilities

  • Provides supervision of residential activities and adventure program activities.
  • Proposes, develops and implements plans for enhancing the activities program toward increasing clinical benefits.
  • Collaborates with Lead RA to confirm scheduling of RA staff to balance quality and efficiency.
  • Oversees adventure and activities program schedule to meet patient needs and efficiency.
  • Develops relationships with local businesses to create an approved activity schedule matching level of care.
  • Works with supervisor to create purchase requests for weekly activities or supplies.
  • Coordinates with supervisor to facilitate therapeutic activity groups.
  • Ensures documentation of all activities and groups.
  • Understands and respects diverse cultures.
  • Provides training to staff on adventure and activities processes.
  • Ensures confidentiality standards are followed.

Qualifications
Position Summary

This position provides leadership and oversight of the adventure program and all associated activities within the facility.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provides supervision of residential activities and adventure program activities.
  • Proposes, develops and implements plans for enhancing the activities program towards increasing the clinical benefits of the adventure experience with the facility.
  • Collaborates with Lead RA to confirm scheduling of RA staff to balance both quality and efficiency of offsite coverage.
  • Oversees adventure and activities program schedule to meet the unique needs of patient population and any unique service groups, based on level of care, balancing both quality and efficiency.
  • Develops relationships with local businesses to collaborate on creating approved activity schedule that matches appropriate level of care of patients at facility.
  • Works with supervisor to create and submit purchase requests on determined basis for approval of weekly activities and events, or needed supplies
  • Coordinates with supervisor to facilitate therapeutic activity groups.
  • Ensures appropriate documentation of all activities and groups.
  • Must have an understanding and sensitivity to diverse cultures.
  • Regularly provides training to Black Bear Lodge staff on adventure and activities program processes and models.
  • Ensures that all Activities staff adhere to strict standards of confidentiality
Education And Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy or related social service or Outdoor Education field preferred
  • Preferred Certified Recreation Therapist
  • Preferred 2 years of previous adventure program facilitation, residential programming, and work with the co-occurring population
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a residential setting preferred.
  • Wilderness First Responders Certification preferred
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a trustworthy driving history
