The primary purpose of the Activity Coordinator (AC) position is to ensure the safety of and provision of quality active treatment for the people residing in their assigned home. The role is primarily responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing activities that support the residents’ formal and informal goals throughout the day to support continuous active treatment. The role serves as a member of the home management team for the home to which they are assigned and is responsible for providing input and following through if changes need to occur under the guidance of the Health Care Supervisor (HCS). In absence of the HCS or the Shift Supervisor (SS), the Activity Coordinator provides direct administrative supervision of Health Care Technician I (HCT I) positions present at that time. The Activity Coordinator is directly supervised by the home’s HCS.

This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.

As of January, 2025, the new salary range will be $31,235.00 - $46,852.00.

Salary Grade MH02: Recruitment Range $31,200.00 - $46,852.00

Position 60049070 - Summit/Birch - 2nd shift (12:00 pm - 8:30 pm), Monday - Friday and every other weekend

  • Employee will be required to successfully complete training through our Staff Development department which includes, but is not limited to CPI, CPR, Body Mechanics and lifting.
  • Frequent lifting and bending required.

Management Preferences:
  • Documented experience working with individuals with disabilities, computer skills, CPR certification, and knowledge of person centered planning.
  • Documented experience with use of computers.
  • Supervisory experience in a large residential facility and van driver's license.
  • Two years of closely related work experience.
  • Experience being Officer of the Day.

**Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus
Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:
A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).
An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:
(1) the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);
(2) the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;
(3) or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
