Description of Work

The primary purpose of the Activity Coordinator (AC) position is to ensure the safety and provision of quality active treatment for residents. Responsibilities include planning, implementing, and overseeing activities that support residents’ goals, serving as a member of the home management team, and providing input for changes under the guidance of the Health Care Supervisor (HCS). In absence of the HCS or Shift Supervisor (SS), the AC supervises Health Care Technician I (HCT I) positions present at that time. The AC reports directly to the HCS.

This position is Mandatory and requires reporting or staying over during adverse weather events.

Starting January 2025, salary range: $31,235.00 - $46,852.00.

Position 60049070 - Summit/Birch - 2nd shift (12:00 pm - 8:30 pm), Monday - Friday, every other weekend.

About J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center

Located in Morganton, NC, JIRDC is an ICF-certified facility providing residential care for individuals with intellectual disabilities across 37 counties. The center is situated near Charlotte, Asheville, and the Blue Ridge Mountains, offering a picturesque setting and outdoor activities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience with development and implementation of goal programs and person-centered plans.
  • Good standing with the NC Health Care Personnel Registry.
  • Successful completion of training (CPI, CPR, Body Mechanics).
  • Frequent lifting and bending required.
Management Preferences
  • Experience with individuals with disabilities, computer skills, CPR certification, and knowledge of person-centered planning.
  • Supervisory experience, van driver’s license, and two years related work experience preferred.
Minimum Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED plus one year of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Degrees must be from accredited institutions.
