Job summary

Sweetwater Care is seeking an energetic activity assistant to support the Activity Director in assessing, organizing, and implementing recreational services for residents. The role aims to address individualized needs with engaging programs and fun activities.

The candidate should have a High School Diploma and at least one year in long term care, with preference for prior social/recreational program experience. CNA certification participation is required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assists in developing and delivering activity programs to promote resident engagement.
• Encourages participation in group and individual activities (arts/crafts, outings, religious, educational, community service).
• Completes activity documentation in line with regulatory requirements and policies.
• Submits supplies lists and receipts for activity expenditures.
• Maintains precautions/limitations list on each resident.
• Assists in organizing and supervising volunteers, including recruitment and training.
• Assists with Resident Council Meetings when needed.
• Helps plan community activities involving staff, families and residents.
• Prepares and posts monthly calendars of activities.
• Other duties may be assigned as needed.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Responsible for supporting the efforts of the Activity Director in the assessing, selecting, organizing, and implementing of activity/recreational services to address the individualized needs and interests of the residents. We are looking for someone who has a great energy and likes to have fun with our residents!

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
• One-year experience working in long term care.
• One years of experience conducting social/recreational programs within the past five years, preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists in the development and delivery of activity/recreational programs to promote the residents’ opportunities for engaging in normal life enhancement pursuits and to increase and/or maintain functioning levels.
• Encourages resident participation in group and individual activities including arts/crafts, community outings, religious activities, intellectual/educational activities, community/center service activities, recreational activities, etc.
• Assists in completing activity documentation, when needed, if trained and in conjunction with regulatory requirements and company policies.
• Submits supplies list to Activity Director and submits receipts for activity expenditures.
• Maintains precautions/limitations list on each resident.
• Assists Activity Director in the organization and supervision of the volunteer program including recruiting and training volunteers.
• Assists with Resident Council Meetings when necessary.
• Assists in planning community activities that jointly include the community, staff, families and residents.
• Assists in the completion of a monthly calendar of available activity/recreational programs and posts it in the center.
• Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or assigned at any time with or without notice.

Also requires participation in facility CNA certification program and obtaining certification as a CNA.
