Job summary

Rehabilitation Center of Bakersfield is seeking an Activity Assistant to lead therapeutic and diversional activities for residents in compliance with federal, state, and center guidelines. You will perform activity sessions, manage calendars, and help with communications and mail delivery.

The role requires written and verbal English proficiency, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, initiative, and prior experience in long-term care or related health care settings.

Qualifications

• Should be certified either nationally or by the State in which practicing.
• Two year’s experience in a social or recreational program setting.
• Strong proven written and verbal English communication skills for business necessity.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Good organizational skills.
• Ability to use own initiative with solid problem solving skills.
• Experience in long-term care setting or related health care field.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient activities (therapeutic and diversional) for all residents in accordance with Federal, State and Company requirements.
• Carries out support tasks relating to patient activities correctly and on schedule.
• Ensures resident activity calendars and communications are updated and posted in a timely manner as well as delivery and communication of patient mail daily.
• Participates in special resident events and outings ensuring necessary supplies are on hand and returned appropriately.
• Updates and maintains resident activity records.
• Participates in meetings and ensures creation of necessary communications and documentation, as required.
• Attends required meetings and in-service training.
• Assists with decorating center to reflect current season or holiday.
• Meets with consultants, as required.
• Presents professional image to consumers through dress, behavior and speech.
• Adheres to Company standards for resolving consumer concerns.
• Ensures that all patient/resident rights are protected.
