Job summary

The Laurels of Sandy Creek/Maplewood of in Michigan is seeking an Activities Assistant to support the Activity Director in planning and facilitating programs that meet residents' physical, mental, and social well-being. You will help create an engaging environment and encourage participation.

This full-time role requires a high school diploma, basic computer skills, and compassion for seniors, with opportunities to collaborate with families and volunteers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in activities, recreation therapy, or long-term care preferred.
• Computer skills required.
• Must pass state and federal background checks.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates activity programs as planned to meet Residents' needs and interests.
• Assist Residents to and from activities and outings as scheduled.
• Maintains good rapport with family members and encourages family support.
• Completes attendance and participation records in a timely manner.
• Provides input to assessment and evaluation of Residents' participation.
• Supports Residents' individual needs, preferences, and routines.
• Escorts Residents to activities and works with volunteers.
• Cleans equipment and materials used for activities.
• Participates in long-term care survey, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
• Performs other duties as required.

Essential functions and responsibilities:

The essential functions of this position include the following. This list is not intended to be exclusive or exhaustive. There may be additional essential functions based on the unique nature of the position or environment.

• Facilitates activity programs as planned to meet the functional levels, needs and interests of each Resident.
• Assist Resident to and from activity programs and outings as scheduled, as required.
• Maintains good rapport with family members and encourages family support in programs.
• Completes appropriate records indicating Resident's attendance and participation in individual and group activities in a timely basis.
• Provide input to the assessment and evaluation of Residents' participation when requested. Communicates Resident's concerns and responses to interventions to immediate supervisor.
• Supports Residents' individual needs, preferences, customary routines, concerns and choices.
• Assists with escorting Residents to and from activities.
• Assist and work with individual volunteers and volunteer programs at the request of the Activity Director.
• Cleans equipment and materials used for activities.
• Participates in long-term care survey process, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.

Qualifications:

• Education and/or Experience:
• Minimum high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Previous experience in activities, recreation therapy, and long-term care preferred.
• Computer skills are required.
• Meets state and federal criminal background check requirements.
