Job summary

Ciena Healthcare is seeking an Assistant Activity Director to support activity programs that enhance the well-being and engagement of residents in Michigan. You will help plan and facilitate activities, assist residents to events, and maintain records of participation, while collaborating with families and volunteers to build a caring community.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, and computer skills; prior experience in activities/recreation therapy or long-term care is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience in activities, recreation therapy, and long-term care preferred.
• Computer skills are required.
• Meets state and federal criminal background check requirements.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates activity programs as planned to meet residents' needs and interests.
• Assist residents to and from activity programs and outings as scheduled.
• Maintain rapport with family and encourage family support in programs.
• Record attendance and participation in activities in a timely manner.
• Provide input to assessment and evaluation of residents' participation; communicate concerns to supervisor.
• Support residents' individual needs, preferences, routines, and choices.
• Escort residents to and from activities as needed.
• Coordinate with volunteers and volunteer programs under the Activity Director.
• Clean equipment and materials used for activities.
• Participate in long-term care survey processes and accreditation requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential functions and responsibilities:

The essential functions of this position include the following. This list is not intended to be exclusive or exhaustive. There may be additional essential functions based on the unique nature of the position or environment.

• Facilitates activity programs as planned to meet the functional levels, needs and interests of each Resident.
• Assist Resident to and from activity programs and outings as scheduled, as required.
• Maintains good rapport with family members and encourages family support in programs.
• Completes appropriate records indicating Resident's attendance and participation in individual and group activities in a timely basis.
• Provide input to the assessment and evaluation of Residents' participation when requested. Communicates Resident's concerns and responses to interventions to immediate supervisor.
• Supports Residents' individual needs, preferences, customary routines, concerns and choices.
• Assists with escorting Residents to and from activities.
• Assist and work with individual volunteers and volunteer programs at the request of the Activity Director.
• Cleans equipment and materials used for activities.
• Participates in long-term care survey process, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Minimum high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Previous experience in activities, recreation therapy, and long-term care preferred.
