Job summary

Kadima Healthcare Group in Greenville, PA is seeking an Activities Aide to provide recreational activities for residents, assist in planning, conducting, evaluating, and participate in individual and group programs. You will help maintain a safe environment and support residents in daily activities.

The role supports dementia group activities, transports residents when needed, and helps with crafts, events, and scheduling.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited high school or GED preferred.
• Previous long-term care experience is desirable.
• Artistic background or prior instruction from a certified activity consultant.

Responsibilities

• Help residents maintain functioning by presenting activities suited to capacity and interests.
• Motivate residents to engage with life and community by exploring hobbies and community events.
• Prepare dementia group activities on a weekly basis.
• Deliver mail, flowers and other items to residents in a timely manner and read mail on request.
• Prepare for activity programs by ensuring supplies are available and the room is ready.
• Encourage participation by announcing activities 30 minutes before start of activity.
• Assist in transporting residents to activity programs.
• Conduct resident shopping as requested.
• Accompany residents outside the facility to participate in community events.
• Assist residents in crafts and activities and support setup.
• Implement activity procedures by creating decorations, setting up equipment and crafts.
• Assist in scheduling movies, parties and games for residents.
• Supervise activities as necessary and maintain competency.
• Safety and care of residents during transport and activities.
• Proper chart documentation of participation and evaluations.
• Performs other duties as required.

Education

The primary purpose of this position is to provide recreational activities for residents by assisting in planning, conducting, evaluation and participating in one on one and group activity programs. The Activities Aide also ensures a safe environment for the residents at all times.

Job Responsibilities

• Helps resident maintain their highest level of functioning by presenting appropriate activity programs according to resident's physical capacity, cognitive ability and interest.
• Motivate resident to take an interest in their life and community by investigating alternative methods of activities, resident hobbies, and community interest.
• Prepare Recreational therapy (dementia group) as assigned on a weekly basis.
• Delivers mail, flowers and other items to residents in timely manner and reads mail to residents upon request.
• Prepares for activity program by assuring all supplies are available and room is ready.
• Encourages residents to participate by announcing activity 30 minutes before start of activity.
• Assist in transporting residents to activity program.
• Conducts resident shopping as requested.
• Accompanies residents outside facility to participate in community events.
• Assist resident in craft projects and activity.
• Implements activity procedures Assist directed by the Activity Director by creating decorations, setting up necessary equipment, creating ceramics, needlework, woodwork, and other crafts, escorting residents to and from activity area and awarding prizes.
• Assist in making appointments for the resident as requested.
• Assist in scheduling movies, planning parties and providing games/activities for residents.
• Supervise activities as necessary.
• Maintains competency & is tested to be competent in: subject to change based on educational needs of staff.
• Safety and care of resident during transport.
• Safety and care of resident during activities.
• Proper chart documentation or resident participation and evaluation.
• Follows proper procedures during resident activity such as ceramics, crafts, needlework, games, etc.
• Performs other duties as required.
