Glenview Terrace Nursing Center is seeking a caring Activity Aide to join our team in Glenview, IL. You will help plan and lead recreational, social, and therapeutic activities to promote residents' quality of life and well-being.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with older adults, is patient and compassionate, and can encourage participation while respecting each resident's interests and abilities. Part-time schedule includes Saturdays and Sundays 8:30am-5pm.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and leading daily activities for residents.

• Assist residents with getting to and from activities safely.
• Set up, clean up, and maintain activity areas and supplies.
• Coordinate special events, holidays, and community outings.
• Interact with residents in a friendly, respectful manner.
• Record attendance and participation; report to Activity Director or nursing staff.
• Follow facility policies, safety procedures, and infection-control guidelines.
• Collaborate with nursing, dietary, therapy, social services, and other departments.

Position Summary

We are seeking a caring, energetic, and dependable Activity Aide to join our nursing home team. The Activity Aide helps create a welcoming and engaging environment for our residents by planning and assisting with recreational, social, and therapeutic activities that promote quality of life and overall well-being.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with older adults, is patient and compassionate, and can encourage residents to participate while respecting their individual interests, abilities, and preferences.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and leading daily activities for residents.

• Organize games, arts and crafts, music, exercise, entertainment, social events, and other recreational programs.

• Encourage residents to participate in activities while respecting their individual choices and abilities.

• Provide one-on-one activities for residents who are unable or prefer not to participate in group programs.

• Assist residents with safely getting to and from activities as needed.

• Set up, clean up, and maintain activity areas and supplies.

• Help coordinate special events, holiday programs, birthday celebrations, and community outings.

• Interact with residents in a friendly, respectful, and compassionate manner.

• Observe residents' participation and preferences and communicate relevant information to the Activity Director or nursing staff.

• Maintain accurate activity attendance and participation records.

• Follow all facility policies, safety procedures, and infection-control guidelines.

• Work cooperatively with nursing, dietary, therapy, social services, and other departments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Previous experience working with seniors, in a nursing home, assisted living facility, hospital, or other healthcare setting is preferred but not always required.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Patient, compassionate, and enthusiastic personality.

• Ability to work effectively with residents with varying physical and cognitive abilities.

• Ability to work as part of a team.

• Must be dependable and able to maintain a professional and respectful attitude.

• CPR/First Aid certification or other required training may be required based on facility policy.

Physical Requirements

The position may require prolonged standing and walking, frequent bending and reaching, and assisting residents with participation in activities. The employee must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
