Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

• Plan and perform therapeutic rehabilitation activities and functional life skills assessments for patients with psychiatric or co-occurring disorders using recreation therapy principles and practices.
• Work as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team.

About You

The company is looking for candidates with the following qualifications and skills:

• Current certification as a Recreation Therapist by the California Board of Recreation and Park Certification or the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification, OR current license as an Occupational Therapist by the Occupational Therapy Board of California, OR completion of a bachelor's degree program meeting requirements for Recreation Therapist certification or Occupational Therapist license.
• Knowledge of principles and techniques of recreation therapy in acute care psychiatric settings.
• Understanding of mental and emotional disorders and appropriate assessment techniques.
• Familiarity with individual and group facilitation techniques, medical and psychiatric terminology, and regulations governing psychiatric health facilities.
• Ability to conceptualize and plan appropriate recreation therapy programs, adapt treatment programs to patient function levels, and lead patients in recreational and social activities.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
• Compliance with criminal history and background checks, and child and elder abuse reporting requirements.
