Job summary

Smart Staffing Group is seeking a Recreation Therapist to conduct activities for client groups and work within a treatment team. You will assist patients in leisure activities to improve mind, body, and spirit, while supporting their adjustment to disability or illness.

The role involves planning individualized therapy, maintaining records, coordinating with social services and discharge planners, supervising students, and ensuring adherence to department policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Recreation or a related field is required.
• Minimum 1 year of professional recreation experience in a therapeutic instructional or rehabilitation setting.
• Must pass pre-employment health clearance.

Responsibilities

• Conducts activities for clients/patient groups, individually or as part of the treatment team.
• Assist patients in leisure activities to engage and improve mind, body, and spirit, and adjustment to life with disease, injury or disability.
• Requisition, store, and maintain equipment and supplies; implement recreational therapy for psychiatric inpatients.
• Assess and evaluate patient needs and interests relative to Recreation and social adjustment.
• Develop and implement individualized therapy plans and report progress to the team.
• Schedule patients and maintain attendance and therapy records.
• Interface with social services, discharge planning, and therapy team to aid discharge.
• Assess and suggest purchases for equipment and supplies related to therapeutic recreation.
• Abide by department policies, procedures and operational guidelines.
• Supervise students and volunteers.
• Participate in departmental inservices, teaching and other departmental activities.
• Functions under general supervision of a coordinator/Clinical Director.

• Requisition, store, and maintain equipment and supplies.Implement and deliver recreational therapy that serves to have a positive effect on the physical, mental and emotional well-being of psychiatric inpatients
• Will assess and evaluate patient needs and interests through various means relative to Recreation to Recreational and/or Social Adjustment
• Develop and implement individualized therapy plan and execute it, keeping everyone abreast of progress through written and verbal reports
• Schedule patients, keep attendance and therapy records
• Interface with utilization review social services, discharge planner, therapy team to assist In successful patient discharge
• Assess and suggest purchases for equipment and supplies that pertain to therapeutic recreation
• Abide by department policies, procedures and operational guidelines
• Supervise students and volunteers
