Job summary

Lakewood Retirement Community-LifeSpire is seeking an Activities Program Assistant (Part-Time) to organize and supervise engaging resident activities in a healthcare setting. You will help implement programs, track attendance, and support residents with transportation and associated tasks.

The role requires patience, creativity, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work closely with the Healthcare Program Manager. A positive, proactive attitude and basic computer skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and lead engaging individual and group recreational activities tailored to residents' interests, abilities, and needs.
  • Maintain and distribute activity calendars and ensure schedules are current and accurately posted.
  • Prepare, organize, and clean up activity spaces while ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for all participants.
  • Assist with resident transportation to on- and off-campus activities and provide supervision during outings.
  • Document resident participation and maintain required records in compliance with regulations.
  • Support resident well-being by respecting resident rights, maintaining confidentiality (HIPAA), and assisting with personal requests such as reading mail or writing letters.
  • Coordinate activity supplies, oversee volunteers, and handle program-related payments and receipts as needed.
  • Assist with the care of program pets and maintain clean pet areas.
  • Collaborate effectively with residents, families, coworkers, and other departments to deliver exceptional resident experiences.
  • Demonstrate professionalism through reliable attendance, flexibility, clear communication, and adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing training and perform additional duties as assigned to support quality resident care.

Week 1: Wednesday 12pm-4pm, Thursday 9am-4pm, Friday 9am-4pm, Saturday 10am-2pm
Week 2: Tuesday 12pm-4pm, Wednesday 12pm-4pm, Thursday 9am-4pm, Friday 9am-4pm

Under the direction of the Director of Resident Services, the Program Assistant is responsible for the organization, implementation, supervision of residents in activities, and documentation of resident attendance records. The Program Assistant shall make every effort to meet the comprehensive needs and interests of all residents in Healthcare.

Qualification:

  • Experience working with the geriatric population preferred.
  • Must be able to work with residents with varying degrees of cognitive and physical impairments. Must have good organization, time management and recording keeping skills.
  • Requires patience, creativity, punctuality, dependability, flexibility, enthusiasm, initiative and the ability to work with Healthcare residents. Must be self-directed to accomplish tasks.
  • Be able to work in close cooperation with Healthcare Program Manager, accept and utilize supervisory recommendations, and display initiative to complete activity related tasks and programs.
  • Computer skills are essential.

Physical Conditions:

  • Works in a well-lighted, well ventilated building.
  • Move tables, chairs, and exerting twenty pounds of force on a frequent basis
