Overview

Activities Driver Primary Responsibilities

*PRN

The primary purpose of this position is to provide transportation to and from the facility’s activity programs, physician’s appointments, and outings. This also includes making deliveries and other transportation duties in the company mini van or small 10-passenger bus.

Responsibilities

Activities Driver Essential Functions

• Providing resident transportation to and from the facility, including loading and unloading residents, securing them safely, and transporting them to appointments and designated places.
• Ensuring a nursing assistant or licensed nurse accompanies residents with medical complexities, as determined by the DON or ADON.
• Maintaining communication with the nurse after transport and accurately recording the transports.
• Reporting any medical emergencies immediately by calling 911, and notifying the HFA and DON.
• Ensuring all resident paperwork is complete, confidential, and secure.
• Displaying a positive attitude and working cooperatively with team members.
• Retesting driving skills annually and representing the facility professionally.
• Maintaining confidentiality and reporting incidents as per policy.
• Adhering to safety, infection control, and vehicle maintenance protocols, including pre- and post-trip inspections, ensuring seat belt use, and reporting mechanical issues.
• Keeping work areas clean and following emergency protocols.
• Performing other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

Activities Driver Qualifications

• Must be over 21 years old, with at least three years of driving experience.
• Possess a valid, unencumbered driver’s license and a safe driving record.
• Complete a basic first aid course and driving skills test upon hire.
• Understanding of growth and development principles for adults and geriatrics.
• Interpersonal skills including following instructions, decision-making, tactfulness, and confidentiality.
• Ability to work harmoniously with staff and residents, and adhere to professional ethics and HIPAA regulations.
• Basic computer skills including email, Word, Excel, and office equipment usage.
