Job summary

PruittHealth seeks an Activities Director at Whitaker Glen to oversee recreation programs that enhance residents’ physical, mental, and psycho-social well-being. You will manage staff, develop events, and coordinate monthly schedules, budgeting, and policy updates.

The role requires two years of college in related fields, and experience in long-term care recreation, with eligible certification. Responsibilities include planning travel, events, and interdepartmental collaboration.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years college education in recreation, education, social work or other behavioral sciences.
• Two years’ experience in a social or recreational program within the past five years, with one year full-time employment in a resident activities program in a long term health care setting; or one year in a supervisory role within a recreation program.
• Eligible for certification as Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or as an Activities professional.

Responsibilities

• Design Recreation programs meeting residents' needs and interests.
• Develop and provide individual and group activities at various times and locations.
• Publish monthly activities calendar for residents.
• Develop procedures to keep residents informed of upcoming activities.
• Update Recreation Services policies and procedures.
• Assist in department budgeting and provide financial info to Administrator.
• Hire, supervise and evaluate Recreation staff.
• Maintain skills through continuing education.
• Participate in fire and disaster drills and assist in emergencies.
• Plan and organize two travel trips per year and annual Spring Fling.
• Coordinate two travel trips and annual events; act as Librarian liaison with Wake County Library.

Education
