Description
Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct resident-centered activities for the facility. Keep abreast of current federal and state regulations, as well as professional standards. Ensure effective communication between staff at all levels, residents, families, support personnel, government agencies, and the public to meet the needs of residents, the community, and the facility. Participate in community planning related to the facility's interests and resident and family needs. Assist in reviewing and developing correction plans for activity deficiencies noted during surveys and provide reports to the Administrator. Attend regular meetings such as staff, department head, quality improvement, quality assurance, safety, marketing, and resident and family councils. Support the Quality Assurance and Assessment Committee in developing and implementing corrective actions for quality deficiencies. Participate in discharge planning, develop and implement activity care plans and resident assessments. Arrange transportation for residents for outings, appointments, or discharges. Develop monthly activity schedules including outings, group activities, and in-room activities for bed-bound or isolated residents. Encourage residents to participate in self-initiated activities like hobbies, crafts, and reading, providing materials such as Braille or audiobooks as needed. Ensure all activity notes are detailed and descriptive of services provided and resident responses.
Supervisory Requirements
Assist with the supervision and management of activity staff.
Qualifications
Physical Demands
Requires frequent standing, walking, reaching, pushing/pulling, talking, hearing, tasting, smelling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Good visual perception and focus are necessary.
Work Environment
Typically low to moderate noise levels. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for disabilities. Management may reassign duties as needed.
