Job summary

Signature HealthCARE of Roanoke Rapids is seeking an Activities Director to plan, organize, and direct a broad calendar of resident activities that address social, spiritual, and psychological needs. You will coordinate in-room and on-site events, lead a small team, and collaborate with care staff to promote quality of life for residents at the 108-bed facility in North Carolina.

Experience in therapeutic recreation and supervisory roles is preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree and certification in therapeutic recreation required or preferred.
• Certification by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals is acceptable.
• Experience in social or recreational programming for residents, with health care setting practice preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and direct a calendar of activities addressing residents' social, spiritual, and psychological needs.
• Coordinate and verify assistance for activities and events; provide in-room activities for residents unable to attend daily events.
• Create an ongoing, accessible activity calendar that meets diverse needs and engages all residents.

How you Will make a difference

Our Activities Directors make a difference in the lives of our residents by planning, organizing, and directing a wide variety of activities that promote social, spiritual, and psychological needs.

• Coordinate and verify that assistance is provided to residents for activities and events as necessary.
• Provide in room activities for residents who are unable to attend daily events.
• Create an ongoing calendar of activities, which creatively meets multiple needs and is accessible and appealing to both men and women of all ages and abilities.

What you Need to make a Difference

• Degree and certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist; or
• Certified Activity Director by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals; or
• Two (2) years’ experience in a social or recreational program within the past five (5) years, in which one (1) year was full time in a resident activities program in a health care setting; or
• Prior completion of a state approved training course.
• One (1) to two (2) years management/supervisory experience.
