Job summary

Signature HealthCARE at Jefferson Place Rehab & Wellness Center in Louisville seeks an Activities Director to plan, organize, and direct activities meeting social, spiritual, and psychological needs of residents.

The role requires a therapeutic recreation degree or certification, or a Certified Activity Director credential, or 2 years in social/recreational programs with 1 year in a healthcare activities role; may require state-approved training. Full-time with occasional evenings/weekends.

Qualifications

• Degree and certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist; or
• Certified Activity Director by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals; or
• Two years’ experience in a social or recreational program in the past five years, with one year full time in resident activities in a health care setting; or
• State-approved training course completed.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and direct activities to meet social, spiritual and psychological needs.
• Coordinate in-room activities for residents unable to attend daily events.
• Create an ongoing activity calendar accessible to all residents with varied needs.

How you Will make a difference

Our Activities Directors make a difference in the lives of our residents by planning, organizing, and directing a wide variety of activities that promote social, spiritual, and psychological needs.

• Coordinate and verify that assistance is provided to residents for activities and events as necessary.
• Provide in room activities for residents who are unable to attend daily events.
• Create an ongoing calendar of activities, which creatively meets multiple needs and is accessible and appealing to both men and women of all ages and abilities.

What you Need to make a Difference

• Degree and certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist; or
• Certified Activity Director by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals; or
• Two (2) years’ experience in a social or recreational program within the past five (5) years, in which one (1) year was full time in a resident activities program in a health care setting; or
• Prior completion of a state approved training course.
• One (1) to two (2) years management/supervisory experience.

Full Time mostly day shift but some early evening and weekend rotation.
