Qualifications

  • Associate degree in recreational therapy or similar.
  • At least 2 years of activity/recreation experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience in long-term care is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA.

Responsibilities

  • Develops activities suitable and enjoyable to the residents.
  • Responsible for all aspects of preparation for activities, including attendance, safety guidelines, and handling incidents.
  • Oversees the Activities Assistants and volunteers to ensure a complete activities calendar.
  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, and evaluate the facility's activity programs.
  • Develop and plan the monthly program calendar.
  • Develop a written plan of care for each resident's activity program.
  • Participate in discharge planning and activity care plans.
  • Implement activity procedures as directed by the Activity Director.
  • Schedule programs, plan parties, and provide games/activities for residents.
  • Encourage participation in activities supporting physical, mental, social and spiritual well-being.
  • All other duties as assigned.

As an Activities Director, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in our community. You'll foster an environment that promotes social interaction, physical activity, and emotional well-being, ensuring that every day is filled with joy and purpose.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Activities Director to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality support to the resident and families, work with other members of the interdisciplinary team, and ensure that residents receive the best possible treatment in a variety of settings, including long term care, sub-acute care, and memory care. This role requires strong skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to resident-centered care.

Responsibilities
  • Develops activities that are suitable and enjoyable to the residents.
  • Responsible for all aspects of preparation for activities, including taking attendance, ensuring facility rules are followed, informing participants of safety guidelines and managing incidents of conflict or medical emergencies.
  • Oversees the Activities Assistants, as well as any volunteers, to ensure that the residents have a well-rounded and complete activities calendar.
  • Planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating the activity programs of the facility.
  • Developing and planning the monthly program calendar.
  • Developing a written plan of care for each resident's activity program.
  • Participate in discharge planning, development and implementation of activity care plans and resident assessments.
  • Implement activity procedures as directed by the Activity Director.
  • Scheduling programs, planning parties and providing games/activities for residents.
  • Encourage residents to participate in activities of daily living that will stimulate his/her potential, physically, mentally socially and spiritually.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Experience
  • Activity Assistant : 2 years (Preferred)
  • SNF / LTC : 2 years (Preferred)
License/Certification
  • Activity Director Certified (Preferred)

Work Location: In person

SKILLS
  • Qualified candidates will have an associate degree in recreational therapy or similar degree.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with Activities/Recreation in a long-term care or other healthcare setting.
  • Previous management experience is also a plus.
  • Candidates should show evidence of creativity, organizational skills and cheerful personality.
  • Previous experience in long-term care or other healthcare settings is a plus.
  • Experience working with Alzheimer's/Dementia patients a plus.
  • Experience in Long Term Care.
  • Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding employee, resident and company proprietary information.
  • Must have the ability to relate professionally and positively and work cooperatively with patients, families, and other employees at all levels.
  • Must possess computer skills of the types and at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
  • Knowledge of HIPPA, and state and federal regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
