Pinnacle Health & Rehab at S.Portland is seeking an experienced Activities Director to lead our activity program for residents. You will design and implement engaging activities that meet psychological, social, recreational, and spiritual needs during waking hours.

You will assess resident needs, keep records, attend IDT meetings, and ensure accessibility for all residents. Strong communication and teamwork with staff are essential.

Qualifications

  • Must have or be enrolled in a course approved by the Department of Education.
  • Completion of an approved course prior to July 1, 1994.
  • Registration as an occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant.
  • Qualified therapeutic recreational specialist credential.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute activities to promote socialization and well-being for residents.
  • Assess residents’ needs and maintain records of activity involvement.
  • Attend IDT meetings to develop and revise care plans and document progress quarterly.
  • Ensure activities are accessible for residents with varying abilities.
  • Oversee activity supplies and equipment maintenance.
  • Develop and implement volunteer programs for resident activities.
  • Encourage participation in religious activities to meet spiritual needs.
  • Coordinate with staff and resources to meet resident interests and needs.
  • Participate in Resident Council meetings unless directed otherwise.
  • May perform other duties as directed by Administrator.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Activities Director to lead our team in creating engaging and fulfilling experiences for our residents. The ideal candidate directs and/or carries out an activity program that is designed to meet both the individual and group needs of the residents of the facility. Programs are to be designed to meet the psychological, social, recreational amd spiritual needs and interests of the resident during waking hours. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional to make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute a variety of activities, including social events, outings, and entertainment programs, to promote socialization, recreation, and overall well-being among residents.
  • Conduct assessments to identify the needs and preferences of our residents and design activities that meet those needs while keeping individual records of activity involvements,
  • Attend IDT meeting to develop, review, and revise the plan of care for each resident and writing progress notes at least quarterly for those residents with problems identified on the plan of care in which the Activities Coordinator is involved.
  • Ensure that all activities and events are accessible and inclusive for residents with varying abilities and needs.
  • Oversee the management of activity supplies and equipment, ensuring that they are properly maintained and utilized.
  • Develops and implements volunteer programs in relation to resident's activities.
  • Encourages residents to participate in religious activities to fulfill their basic spiritual needs.
  • Confers with other personnel and supervisors regarding residents interests, needs and limitations(in compliance with physician's orders) and availability of resources.
  • Coordinates and participates in Resident Council meetings, unless otherwise directed.
  • May perform other duties as directed by Administrator.
Qualifications
  • Having completed or being currently enrolled in a training course approved by the Department of Education; or
  • Having completed an appoved course prior to July 1, 1994; or
  • Is a registered occupational therapist or an occupational therapy assistant; or
  • Is a qualified therapeutic recreational specialist.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with residents and staff at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Computer skills are required
