Job summary

Greenbrier Senior Living is seeking an Activities Director for The Birches on Maple in Carrollton, GA. You will plan and lead programs that support residents’ physical, spiritual, emotional and social well-being across care levels.

The role requires strong leadership, budgeting, scheduling and compliance with regulations. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED and at least 3 years of related experience, preferably in senior living or healthcare.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of related work experience preferred, ideally in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, or similar.
• Strong organizational, leadership and communication skills.
• Passion for creating engaging programs and enriching residents' lives.
• Flexibility for evenings, weekends and holidays for events.
• Able to meet physical requirements and lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.

Responsibilities

• Plan, promote, implement, coordinate and evaluate programs for residents across care levels.
• Maintain compliance with applicable regulations, policies and standards.
• Develop and update departmental policies, procedures and job descriptions.
• Orient and train team members on policies and procedures.
• Develop budgets, forecasts and staffing plans; ensure proper resource use.
• Supervise, schedule and evaluate activities and wellness staff.
• Oversee volunteers and ensure safe work practices.
• Maintain monthly activities calendar and distribute a monthly newsletter.
• Ensure transportation for activities and companion services is timely and safe.
• Oversee vehicle maintenance to keep them safe and functional.

What You Will Do

• Plan, promote, implement, coordinate, and evaluate programs focused on the physical, spiritual, emotional, and social well-being of residents across all levels of care.
• Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, policies, and professional standards.
• Develop, maintain, administer, and periodically update departmental policies, procedures, and job descriptions.
• Orient and train team members on departmental policies and procedures.
• Develop departmental budgets, forecasts, and staffing plans while ensuring proper utilization of financial resources.
• Supervise, schedule, and evaluate activities and wellness staff.
• Provide oversight and supervision of volunteers while ensuring safe work practices.
• Develop, post, and maintain the monthly activities calendar for residents.
• Create and distribute a timely and informative monthly newsletter.
• Ensure timely, safe, secure, and dependable transportation services in support of community activities and Companion Services.
• Oversee the maintenance of community-owned vehicles to ensure they remain safe, clean, and in proper working order.
• Support resident engagement by creating meaningful programs and opportunities that enhance quality of life.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position reports directly to the Executive Director and is expected to perform independently while exercising sound judgment and leadership.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• Minimum of three (3) years of related work experience preferred, ideally in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, or a similar industry.
• Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
• Passion for creating engaging programs and enriching the lives of seniors.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays for special events and activities.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position including sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching overhead, grasping with both hands, and fine manipulation throughout the workday.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
